Professional Profile
John Alexander is an executive coach, consultant, author, lecturer, and senior executive with more than 30 years’ experience in the U.S. and abroad. From 1997-2007, Alexander served as President and CEO of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®). During his tenure, CCL was consistently ranked among the world’s top providers of non-degree executive education. Before joining CCL’s staff in 1990 in a senior public relations role, Alexander pursued an 18-year career as an award-winning newspaper editor and writer, during which he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on topics related to leadership, ethics, coaching, and governance. He has a BA in English Literature with Highest Honors from Princeton University and an M.A. in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from Magdalen College, Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He is currently completing a two-year appointment as the Isabella Cannon Distinguished Visiting Professor of Leadership at the new Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, NC.
